Celtic Lore
Celtic stories are adventurous, tragic and magical tales filled with shape changers, heroes and gods and godesses. I am intrigued by swan maidens and the heroes of old.
Heroes & Shapechangers
I especially love the Red Branch, the oldest if the four branches of Irish Mythology. It tells the story of the warrior Cu Chullain.
I love the ambiguity in these tales. Cu Chullain is also a wanderer between worlds. Not fully human, not fully god. Too young and beardless, he also doesn’t quite fit in the band of warriors. But they depend on him, and in the end he dies because of love and loyalty. Yes, he sees it coming, but he is cannot escape what he sees as his fate.
Feathers
These stories are weird and magical, but they have the ability to touch our hearts and to remind us that we as humans are part of the natural world.
